On Wednesday April 2nd, more than 35 dedicated YAH youth took part in our Spring Peer to Peer program at Hudson Middle School. Through this program, YAH high school students prepare informative and interactive presentations on various topics and present to all 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes at HMS. Peer to Peer offers a unique experience for students to combine both leadership and education. This year, the chosen topics were Health & Wellness (6th grade), Social Media (7th grade) and “Profile of a High School Student” (8th grade).
Groups that presented to the 6th grade classrooms talked about topics such as the importance of sleep, stress management, and proper nutrition. 7th grade students heard about how to stay safe while using social media, and how social media can be used to enhance your accomplishments and attract future employers and colleges. The 8th grade students were introduced to the wide variety of activies and clubs at HHS, as well as how to prepare for the first days in a new school and studying for finals.
Sophomore Clare Weber says she got involved with Peer to Peer because, “it is a fun way to get involved at the middle school and in the community. I also think it is important for middle school students to hear about these topics from students they will listen to and who know what they are talking about”. YAH’s Peer to Peer program occurs in both the spring and fall and is open to any and all Hudson High School students who are interested!
YAH would like to thank all of the staff and faculty at Hudson Middle School for welcoming our student volunteers into their classrooms for the day.
