RAPtors
Our mentoring and tutoring Rock Assistance Program, hence RAPtors, began in the fall of 2011. On Mondays and Thursdays, Hudson High School students assist at E.P. Rock Elementary from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Rock Assistance Program provides elementary students with successful academic experiences, which also promotes positive attitudes toward school while boosting self-esteem. This program is designed to give extra encouragement to students by providing small group sessions that are individualized to student needs.
Hudson High School students are assigned to a classroom at E.P. Rock and supervised by a teacher from E.P. Rock. They are volunteering their time as a mentor/tutor to provide academic, social, and emotional needs for students. In other words, high school students are helping to shape Hudson's future by reaching out to the underclassmen. For those students interested in Elementary Education or an education related field this would be a beneficial program. Contact YAH for more information about getting involved and check out the Positive Behavior Intervention System that E.P. Rock has adopted.
