Operation Christmas Child

In 2014, YAH student volunteer Clare Weber brought Operation Christmas Child to the Hudson High School and Youth Action Hudson. 
Operation Christmas Child is a program designed by Samaritain's Purse and sends shoeboxes filled with toys, hygeine items, games and clothing to children in developing countries around the world. 
​Students have the opportunity to select the gender and age group of a child (male or female, ages 2-4, ages 5-9 or ages 10-14) and pack a shoebox with approved items to send to the child. Last year, YAH helped pack more than 15 boxes that were sent to Rwanda and Trinidad and Tobago.

Here is how it works:
  • You get to send Christmas joy to children in developing countries by filling a shoebox with items such as small puzzles, games, hygiene items, sunglasses, etc. (see full list of ideas at www.samaritanspurse.org)
  • YOU need to provide a shoe box and additional items you want included in your box. You are able to select a BOY or GIRL and choose which age rang (2-4, 5-9 or 10-14).  If possible, please bring a $9 donation to help cover the shipping cost of the boxes (this also allows us to find out where our boxes are sent!)
